JOB DESCRIPTION

POST TITLE:                     Project Youth Worker 

RESPONSIBLE TO:             Youth Development Worker 

JOB PURPOSE                   To assist the Youth Development Worker in providing services targeting young people in the 11 to 25 year age range, specifically prioritising 13 to 19 year olds.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

1.           To establish positive and meaningful relationships with young people and identify their needs 

2.           To engage and support young people, ensuring that the Data Protection policy and Confidentiality policy are adhered to at all
    times. 

3.           To empower young people to make decisions relating to their own lives. 

4.           To ensure that all referral forms and client records are completed and kept up to date. 

5.           To assist the Youth Development Worker, ensuring that the information provided to young people is accurate and in a
    format appropriate to each young persons needs. 

6.           To be prepared to work both flexibly and creatively including some evening and weekend work. 

7.           To comply with health and safety policy and systems, report any incidents/accidents/ hazards and take pro-active approach
    to health and safety matters in order to protect both yourself and others. 

8.           To assist the Youth Development Worker in the running of any activities for young people, including the current Wednesday
     youth evening. 

9.           To work with other Project staff to deliver sexual health services and promote safe sex amongst young people. 

10.         To undertake other duties as the commensurate with the status and purpose of the post as the Youth Development worker
     may reasonably require
