Training and support 

Every volunteer needs to complete First Stop Darlington’s induction programme, which consists of completion of the shadowing programme and 6 x 2hr training sessions.  The training sessions are available every 6 months for you to attend. 

Support is given throughout the induction period as you go through our shadowing programme which means you will always be working with a member of the team on a one to one basis.  Volunteers also receive supervision every 4 weeks. 

Further training opportunities are varied and often, and are open to the whole team to attend.  We encourage our team to gain a variety of ‘strings to their bows’ and are happy to support people to access courses and training to enhance their knowledge base.  However, we also understand that training is not for everyone and also that time constraints may restrict your ability to commit the extra time required.
